Following her imagination and intuition, Andrea Heller planned the monumental installation work “l’endroit de l’envers” for the solo exhibition at the Centre d’art Pasquart in 2019.
With its dark paintwork and impressive dimensions (7 x 7 x 5.5 metres), the work exuded an imposing radicality and force. “L’endroit de l’envers”, in a modified form, now stands beneath three old oak trees at the edge of a grove in Sibra Park. The special feature of “L’endroit de l’envers” at Sibra is not just the dark paintwork inside and out, but also its hybrid character. The built structure is both sculpture and architecture – and much more than that.
The monumental house of cards of the original installation is transformed into a mixed form of A-shaped shelter and observatory, to be used as a temporary retreat, space for reflection, laboratory or mini-workshop. “L’endroit de l’envers” is thus both part of an Artists’ Residence and the guest house.
